I am a health coach and philosopher, and I seek to enlighten you. Here’s my question: If you know you could eat, live, feel, and look better but continue in the same unhealthy rhythm year after year, why is that? I aim to help you discover how and why you are standing in your own way.
We create our own obstacles to better health for two reasons.
First, lack of information: About how to read labels and grocery shop, how to balance macronutrients, how to navigate the media circus of health information, what to feed our picky kids, how to prepare simple healthy meals and easily pack wholesome lunches, how to be more active, and so on. This is all nuts and bolts, and I help you get a handle on it.
If all it took were facts, though, everyone would be at their ideal health and weight. The second, and more daunting, hurdle we face is translating information into lasting lifestyle changes. Many of us think that we can magically transform by flipping a switch—for example, with a New Year’s resolution. That, of course, doesn’t work. Motivation flags, and old habits take over. What, then, is the key to real and lasting change?
What I have discovered in my coaching practice is that like the key to your home, the key to your health is unique. As your health coach, finding your key is the journey we take together, in order to unlock and unleash the healthier woman you deep-down wish to be.
Who is that woman? She’s the one who makes sound food choices rather than crash diets, the one who works out regularly because it makes her feel young and alive, who has abundant energy, mental acuity, and clear skin, who feels confident that she’s feeding her family properly, and who doesn’t have to berate herself for always falling short of some external ideal. She’s also the one who will suffer from far fewer debilitating age-related diseases, and who will enjoy a longer and more self-sufficient life.
Sound good? Too good to be true? Here’s the rub. Health coaching is not a quick fix. The work we do together involves soul-searching and tremendous commitment. Some are not ready or willing for it, and for them coaching is a waste of time and money. But for those who have finally reached the point where enough is enough, I am here to support you through your transformation.
